Darnell Williams is originally from Waldorf, MD. He started his dance journey at the age of 6 as a competitive Dancer in the DC Maryland and Virginia Area where he won multiple 1st place top score awards and title awards at competitions including Groove National Talent Competition, Starbound, Nextstar, Beyond the Stars, and Showstoppers American Dance Championships. He holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Towson University. During his time at Towson, Darnell was a part of the Towson University Dance Company where they performed works by Runqiao Du, Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Vincent Thomas, Christopher K Morgan, Trent Williams, and Stephanie Powell. He was the rehearsal assistant for the Baltimore County Schools Men’s Dance Ensemble. Darnell choreographed and was cast as an Ensemble member in Towson University’s 150th Celebration Show Dance on Bones. In 2016, Darnell was chosen to present his choreography at the 2016 Mid-Atlantic American College Dance Association Conference and was awarded the Towson University Award for Outstanding Choreography amongst other numerous scholarships. While at Towson, Darnell was also a member of Dance Companies VTDance, under the direction of Vincent Thomas, and Ballet ADI, under the direction of Runqiao Du. In his professional career, Darnell has performed in the Tony Award Winning Musical After Midnight as a Tap Brother. He has danced with companies including ELSCO Dance under the direction of Ellenore Scott, Wandering Movers under the direction of Kevin Ortega-Rojas, and XY Dance Project under the direction of Nijawwon Matthews. He has also been in productions including TAPTASTIC and Made To Dance In Burning Buildings written by Anya Pearson, and appeared in Music Artist Isak Danielson’s Video for his song Hold My Hand. Darnell has worked with choreographers including Tom Richardson, Elisabetta Spuria, Maleek Washington, Ali Koinoglou, Emily Bufferd and Derek Mitchell. Most Recently, Darnell was cast in Disney’s the Little Mermaid at The Fireside Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI under the direction of Ed Flesch. Darnell’s next Dance Adventure takes him to Japan where he will be performing at Tokyo Disney Resort in the show Big Band Beat.
